A surprise...

The day gave us a surprise: while we were working, we heard a familiar voice coming from the courtyard of the tomb... someone we know was sipping tea in our tent unaware of our presence. It was Ibrahim, a dearest man who had worked with us in the Italian Archaeological Mission for years. We were all overwhelmed with joy, and Matjaž  immortalized the moment with this photo.

As a matter of fact, the epigraphic investigation on the texts of the southwest wall is almost over by now. The comparative study conducted on the manuscripts written by travellers and scholars who had visited the tomb since the eighteenth century has proved to be very productive. We are trying to reconstruct the lost texts related to many of the scenes still preserved on the wall.

Today our photographer finished photographing the southwest wall: he did a magnificent job! Photos of such high quality are an invaluable support to our epigraphic study.
